This is so true it hurts.
I think I disagree. I’ve found that a lot more people are allowing their sons to engage in activities that were once seen as solely feminine. And if companies are still manufacturing toys, clothes, and many other products for children in very gender-specific ways, then regardless of nurturing children are still being taught what gender is ‘correct’ for them to assign to themselves. I appreciate the quote on some level, because it is still more acceptable for girls to exhibit more masculine behaviors, but I also can’t name one school with a women’s football team.
boys aren’t taught to be sympathetic and learn to cook and clean like girls, but girls are shown how to be tough and work hard, typical lessons for boys.
i wonder if we will ever reach true equality
